Default The Gay Meadow, Shrewsbury Town F.C.

All photos taken during two visits in 1988 and 1992 apart from the last few which were photographed after the ground had closed.
While making this post I discovered that the last ever game at the ground had taken place only the previous day! Demolition began in September 2007 and was completed the following month.
The Gay meadow was widely viewed as being the most attractive ground in the Football League.

The large building is the Wakeman School.

The remaing photos were all taken on 23.6.2007

and finally,a shot that shows how close the ground was to the River Severn.
