    Default St Mary Magdalene, Alsager

Building work began in June 1894;insufficient money was available and work paused in 1895 but was resumed and completed by December 1896 with a temporary roof where the steeple was supposed to be. Over 110 years later the temporary roof is still in place and no steeple has ever been added.

In the first photo it's very obvious that the steeple should be at the left end of the church

It does sort of look a bit odd without the steeple doesn't it but I guess they have lived so long without it it doesn't matter! Nice shots and a lovely find BereniceUK.
