Captain Mainwaring (Dads Army)

I missed the unveiling of this by about a week when I did the Dads Army trail and I happened to be in the area so I dropped by to take a couple of photos.

So it's a statue of Captain Mainwaring and not of Arthur Lowe? One of the most true-to-life statues I think I've ever seen.

By the way, where's that very nice bridge in the background?

Oh! That's interesting

I expected it to be in Sussex which, I think, is where Dad's Army was set

I'm not sure where it was set, but a large amount of filming was done in Thetford hence the statue. There is a fantastic Dads Army trail you can go and where you'll see everything from 'The Cinema' to the 'Town Hall' that were seen in the shows!
