Default Carpenter & Tildesley - Willenhall

Hello to everbody. I am researching the life and times of Carpenter and Tildesley, who were promininent English lockmakers in the district during the nineteenth century. They had a strong association with the area, particularly in Sommerford Place and the New Road Willenhall. I would be very gratefull for interesting information, trade adverts, etc.

I am perticularly interested in learning exactly when they were taken over by GR Smithson who were drop forgers in Cannock Road untill 1985, when they moved to Ford Houses, nearby.

I would also like to learn what happened to John Carpenter whom died in the 1850's and is remembered along with his Father James Carpenter, at the memorial.

Are there any ex-workers for GR Smithson, perhaps now retired that remember the fledgling Carpenter and Tildesley franchise, they had previously acquired?

    Kindest Regards,
