Default The Royal Infirmary in Stoke-on-Trent

As the Royal Infirmary will gradually be knocked down I've started looking for photos. Here's one I pass every day - not much of a memorial now! What was originally a doorway was closed off in the past and the area is now a backwater. Who Alfred Chew was has been lost in the mists of time.

Albert Chew and Co were wine and spirit merchants and also dealt in cigars. Imagine if Threshers offered to sponsor a hospital building today. Wouldn't be allowed because of the connotations

In answer to your question Paul, I'm just reasonably good at searching and ignoring the rubbish to get to what I want.
