July 2008
I really can't believe its been that long! Remember the summer of 2008? Think its the last decent one we had actually... anyway back in a time when I had a lowly 400D that, to be honest, I didn't know one end of from the other or have a clue about apertures, depth of field, focusing points or the relationship between them (some may even argue that I still don't), I was lucky enough to have a mooch round here only a few months after its closure... roll the clock forward four years and I received a request for some high res versions of some of the pictures only to find that I didn't keep them, all I'd got was the unedited (back then I hadn't discovered the benefits of shooting in RAW) jpegs as they came straight out of the camera, so this morning I dug them out and wondered what they would look like four years later using better software and a better understanding... here is some of the results and some previously unseen ones amongst them that I've managed to save and pull back from the bin...
one of the first sights that took my breath away, the boardroom and this table (apparently a local firm were after it and offered thousands)
corridor around the nurses quarters (I think)
staff rest room
looking out of the window in the corridor above into patients garden
the patients garden, unfortunately the doors were locked
corridor looking up from A & E I think
corridor leading up to the top floor (which I believe had been closed for a while prior to the hospitals closure as the floor was rotten and unsafe)
second floor ward
some sort of female ward
operating theatre that I'm sure was attached to the above ward and is the one that was in most haunted
looking up the main staircase from half way up
some randoms that I can't remember exactly where they were but they were within the old original main building
this was in the first ward pictured a bit further up
god knows what this is but it was still full of slides
water tower (inside pics here- http://www.midlandsheritage.co.uk/mi...tal-tower.html (Guest hospital tower))
finally it was starting to go dark, so we left it at that..
