Default Unitec Ceramics, Stafford

Formally known as 'Universal Ceramic Materials', Unitec produced zirconia powders, which are commonly used for high temperature thermal coatings. Production was transferred to Germany earlier this year due to rising costs in the UK and as a result, 34 jobs were lost.

Express & Star

Visited this afternoon with Indy, on what would be another afternoon of rain rain rain...

Although we found the place to be quite stripped out (Machinery was shipped to the new plant in Germany), there was still quite a lot to be seen - big cranes, stacks of paperwork, various bottles of acid and HUGE holes in the ground!

Some photos;

Wet padlock

Indy raiding someone's locker

Defiant

Furnace control

Paperwork and polaroids, which taught me how NOT to stack minerals

<3 Corrosives

(Apologies for the lack of externals. Did I mention it was raining lots?)

Indy should be along shortly with another batch of photos and some better research no doubt

Thanks!

I finally cracked this place.Having had a warm up at the former Britool site.I made my way to Stafford. The site this place must reminds me of is the Coal Research Establishment.I am not to sure if i spanked the ass of epic, but maybe just fondled it instead.

The trip was ended when i clocked the security guard and i legged it for the exit only to be overtaken by four other guys who had appeared from nowhere.pikeys maybe?

Nice day for it man! See...I reckon that rain can sometimes be a blessing when you need security to stay in their huts. More pics please!

There was DEFINITE evidence of Pikey activity when we went - stripped cable, tools, ladders etc. We found a bag with copper in it. Tossers! Anyone noticed how often you hear the pikey signature tune blaring out from open backed trucks just lately? Times must be hard... I hear them almost every other day now instead of twice a year!

We have the open back every day (sometimes twice) blasting his recorded trumpet tune (3 bad notes). No-one has anything left to give them so WHY?
Neighbour tells me they get £90 a ton....how many old bicycles and radiators equals a ton?
