Managed to get an official visit to see what was left of Clipstone in March before it possibly disapeared
The chap from the Coal Authority said that although they had made attempts to sell it off, but no real offers were forthcoming. The Coal Authority's remit is simply to prepare former NCB/ British Coal Colliery sites for alternative use, but with Clipstone being listed its not too easy.
English Heritage haven't been the best help, for example they wouldn't give permission for shuttering or screens to be put up on widows & doors to prevent access & damage because its a listed building
Its an amazing place & deserves saving. And as for thec winders, etc its a crying shame that they have been allowed to be vandalised to such an extent that they are getting close to simply being scrap- why weren't they saved
