    Default Bournes Bank,Burslem

Bournes Bank is a street just off Burslem town centre. The area is gradually being cleared.
The first 3 photos are of a small derelict pottery.

and the rest of the photos are of the opposite side of Bournes Bank where there was a larger pottery with only three bottle ovens remaining.

I photographed all that is left, I'm afraid. Most town planners seem to have reverted to the attitude of the 1950s and 1960s that old is bad and must be replaced.

Excellent pictures! so are they just demolishing a whole section of the place?? With the down-turn in the building and construction industry at the moment, I personally think that we will see a slowing down of the 'regeneration' process (a halt altogether is too much to ask!) which for folks such as ourselves is good news

There were no signs of any work in progress so I'll keep my eye on it.

Here's an update (new photos taken 14.7.2010)

The other side of the road, where the bottle ovens are, is largely unchanged. The business there was Acme Marls

but to be quite honest I'm surprised that it hasn't all gone...
