Thread: Spode Works, Stoke

Yet another Stoke-on-Trent pottery that's struggling. There's now only a skeleton staff working and the administrators have been called in.

I took these photos a couple of weeks ago apart from the first one which dates from summer this year.

Spode was my house team at Middle School. Teachers were also given a 'house' and when a member of staff left, they were bought a set of plates or some pottery items from either Spode, Shelley, Wedgewood or Minton.

I am gutted at this site possibly being consigned to the history books. Would love to go there...had a chance when I was at school but had mumps so I couldn't go!

I am going to try to do something about that...will keep you informed.

I'm getting the impression that town and city councils no longer want any sort of manufacturing anywhere near the centres.
