Hello from a New Born Brummie

Hello folks. Just joined today (yesterday in a couple of minutes). It's a long time since I grew up and trained in Brum, but there is so much information on the internet these days, I cannot resist looking round the various historical sites. In my last two years at Aston grammar, I always made a point of going if I could to the fortnightly visits to factories and other potential employers. It was fascinating to see foundries, forges, rolling mills and so on, and there were so many of them in Aston in those days. We even got to Avery's factory at what was Boulton &
Watt's second Manufactory, opposite Black Patch Park - that involved a ride on the number 5 tram and a good walk from Villa Road.
I'm specially interested in transoport history, but much more besides.
Have seen some good stuff on this site which is why I am joining.
