    Default West to East.

    Hi folks.
I have done a couple of posts and a thread but not introduced myself yet so here goes.

I was born in Bromsgrove and raised in Hunt End, Redditch.
Went to Crabbs Cross infants and junior.
Then on to Ridgeway Comp in Astwood Bank.
I moved to Studley aged 13 and finished my school education at Studley high.
I was 50 on the 20th of January so I'll leave you to work out the dates if you want to.

I lived in Redditch on the Woodrow estate, my flat is no longer there, was a Hell hole anyhow and best off flattened.

Moved to Thurmaston Leicester in '82 to find work after the 3 day weeks of the early 80's.
Worked up until December 2000 and had to pack it in due to cancer.
I'm ok now but let disabled and can't eat.
Some dieting aid that is eh?
    Anyhow I get by.

Now my reason for joining this site is because I didn't know this type of thing was such an interest.
I joined a URBEX site but the seem to radical for an old bloke like me and were VERY clicky, couldn't even post a hello with out it being mod approved.

    Anyhow getting on.

The last real job I had was at the LRI, I was a sparky there and seen the old building of the asylum knocked down and the new hospital built in it's place.
It saddens me that I have no record only in my mind of what the place was like.
It's sites like this that bring back those memories and feelings I have lost.

I will be out there camera in hand to try and record things people take for granted so our future heritage fans can share.

Just a question I have though.....................
How far out do you class as the Midlands?

    Thanks for reading my intro.
    Dave.

Hiya Ferret, welcome and thanks for the intro

I go to the LRI regularly ( parking is blo*dy extortionate ).
For me the forum is more communal than clicky, yeah groups go out together but that's the nature of the thing. There is also a large variety of posts....not just the " look at me...I got some pictures of this nuclear facility I broke into" type thing pervading some of the others

Give it a try for a while and see how you get on and apart from our moderators choice of motorcyle ...........IMHO I think you will find he leaves everything here ticking along pretty well

I'll not mention motor bikes then apart from........................Kawasaki 636 Ninja.

    My lad has one.

I'll be happy when he gets a vehicle with a couple more wheels.

'allo Ferret, Welcome to the gang, come in, take yer coat off and stay a while. Whats yours mate?

Glad you decided to sign up...we have all sorts and everyone is welcome... keep taking and posting the pics.

I like the site because there is a myriad of subjects under a 'Midlands' and a 'Heritage' banner. Some of us like this, some of us like that but we all pretty much give a respectful nod to each others 'thang' and chedd is right... the unterstormenfuhrer that runs it (non-Suzuki owner that he is) is fairly chilled about most things, which is nice.

...and fifty ain't old. I have been out for a beer with people at least that old. Hmmmmmm...perhaps that says something about me!

You can join from anywhere too...we have a 'further afield' section for owt that doesn't fit snugly into another category...or PM anyone and they will send you back all the advice you need.

And I'll say what people think but wont say...good luck with that C word angel.
