We saw this a while ago on a BBC4 programme showing the largest restaurant in China-Chefs who wanted to work there had to be able to do this dish without killing the fish. Another gross dish which really took the buiscuit was the beheading and skinning of a live snake and quick frying and on a bed of whatever-the pieces were still moving around! totally unnecessary.

When I was a kid my grandmother would eye up the chickens, select a suitable dinner and lop off it's head with an axe (on the firewood chopping block).
Chicken runs about a bit and dies, we eat it, end of.

Excess kittens/puppies never went to the RSPCA, good non-PC times.

Its probably the fact that they're still alive, the thought of which, to be fair, doesn't make me want to rush out and buy fish and chips and ranks up there with scooping brains out of live monkeys

Just eat it, even the horrors of "Humane" methods are not too pleasant.
