Could it be a Fire Insurance Mark?
"We don't stop playing because we grow old,
we grow old because we stop playing"
Oooh, too clever. Assuming it's genuine, which it's believed to be, then that's what it is.
Well spotted, bet there can't be many of them around, specially in Bradley. Any idea of the age of the house?

There wasn't a date on the house and it wasn't mentioned in the village history publication I bought. Of course, the insurance sign wasn't necessarily up there from when it was first built, it was probably a later owner who took out the insurance.
It is suprising what you find when you Google!

Fire Insurance Mark - I've also seen "Sun Insurance" ones.
I suspected that there is something of a market for them and I hope that is a replica up on the wall.
