Default Some people will nick anything!!!

"Rangers in Derbyshire's Peak District are urging anyone who knows where a missing historic landmark may be to come forward.
The capstone from the 270-year-old Hope Cross, which marks the boundary of the villages of Hope and Edale, disappeared just after Christmas."

From BBC News - Search under way for missing Hope Cross capstone

I know what I would like to do to them - and it involves 2 bricks!!!

I worked with someone once who said "Some people will even nick the toilet blocks from the bottom of the urinals !" - these people don't seem to have any self respect

I must ask myself "why nick it?"
that top block is/was a Big lump of stone........someone must either have several mates with muscles - or far too much time on their hands!

@ Miss Survey - I agree with you, but that assumes the theiving oiks actually have any!

    FOUND!!!!
BBC News - Missing Hope Cross capstone found dumped near Bradwell

A missing Grade II listed piece of stone which forms the top of a Peak District monument has been recovered after it went missing in December.

The capstone from the 270-year-old Hope Cross, which marks the boundary of the villages of Hope and Edale, disappeared just after Christmas.

It was found in a passing place on the road near Bradwell in the Hope Valley.

Rangers in Derbyshire are looking at ways of securing a capstone taken from the top of a Peak District monument after it was recovered.

The 270-year-old Hope Cross stone was found by a farmer in a passing place near Bradwell in the Hope Valley.

The National Trust said it was working with an archaeologist to ensure the stone was put back in accordance with the historical nature of the landmark. ......

I'm glad to see the stone had been found, and that it'll be put back (the right way, hopefully!) and attached very securely
