    Default Venus & Jupiter conjunction

Visited the moors above Buxton this evening and took the following images of the conjunction at 18.55 hrs:

    Canon 7D with 24-105 L IS USM at 24mm. 4 secs f8 ISO 100

    Canon 7D with 100-400 L IS USM at 300mm. 1.3 secs f8 ISO 100

Also had views of Mars & Mercury!!!!!

These were taken from my back garden at 20.55 hrs using the 500mm Sigma APO telephoto on the Canon 5D

    0.5 secs f8 ISO 1600

when I looked at the image, I realised that the moons of Jupiter were visible

    Highly cropped from above image

Question Re: Venus & Jupiter conjunction

I've never been into astronomy myself, but has this been occurring over the last couple of nights?

Yes, but Tuesday night was the closest they will get this year. I think there will be an even closer conjunction in 2015.
