"A Primitive Methodist chapel opened in 1853 at 'Morridge End' was replaced c. 1880 by one on the Buxton road north of Morridge Top Farm. That chapel was closed in 1972 and was used in 1994 as a farm outbuilding. (fn. 71) "

    Hi
Nice to meet you the other night.
According to the old maps on Old-Maps - the online repository of historic maps - maps page the building at Morridge Top was a methodist Chapel! Search for "Morridge Top" then choose "1 Morridge Top" on the drop down address list. On map 4, 1883-1891 - STAFFORDSHIRE 1:10,560 and it shows as the chapel!

I like the idea of continuous threads that can have photos added to by anyone who wants to contribute, such as War Memorials. Also the wide range of subjects that we're getting now which also means more chance of the group coming up in Google searches.

This morning I was wandering round the graveyard at St Anne's Church, Brown Edge, and saw a headstone which gave the residence of the person named as 'Lion's Paw Farm'. Just the sort of thing that intrigues me especially as it wasn't marked in my map of the area.

Shortly after, I got into conversation with some locals and asked if they knew where Lion's Paw Farm was. They gave me directions and then someone mentioned that there was a cave nearby which used to be a larder. Off I went

and then I fly out to Philadelphia. Been researching for places I can visit while I'm there and here's one place that's a must - Eastern State Penitentiary http://www.easternstate.org/
which begs the question - are there any closed prisons in the UK which are open to visitors? Off the top of my head I can't think of any.

I also came across this wonderful ghost ad which I've managed to find the location of. Another must visit for me!

I've been counting the days down since I booked my flights ages ago. Flying out to Chicago on Monday 13th and going on a bit of a road trip to Boston for 16 nights; back in England on the 30th.

From my last US visit, this is 44 Crown Street, New Haven CT, an old apartment building which may be modernised into condos. At least I'm assuming it was apartments going by the number and type of windows.
