    Default Cold war Maps

The Old Maps site has very recently expanded their range of maps at Old-Maps - the online repository of historic maps - home page . Apart from giving access to a much wider range of maps, they also include online a digitised version of the Russian military maps of the UK, found, if I remember rightly, in a burning Latvian base at the end of the cold war. Coverage is only partial, but does include the Birmingham area and Wolverhampton.

Ehh... "valuable information" on this site i.. not found.

-If there is interest, I myself create a map of military, "cold war" structures of the USSR in the Baltic states.
Latvia - 12 missile bases, 4 underground, 8 ground launch (missile R-12, R-14U). 1 port of the Navy (Liepaja), 1 station technology (cosmic) intelligence (Irbene). 1 station-range detection (Skrunda-blown up by Americans in 1998). Two Air Defense Division (20 positions). Several military air bases (Vainode, Tukums, Lociki, Rumbula)... you need information?

For example my map of the area, "assured destruction" NATO's nuclear forces. Used three district-based missiles - Britain, Italy and Turkey (theatre 1962-1978). The situation is sad for 99% of Europe ... Central Russia will avoid a nuclear attack (not counting the strike aircraft and submarines) ...

I see there is interest in this "cold" theme .. A little Nuclear history ...

    - Once in 1959, Americans have placed missiles "Thor" (radius: 2 400 km) in Britain, the Russian had only "R-5" (only 1 200 km radius...) rocket, which could not reach England. Then, the Russian secret operation launched, and 12 missiles "R-5" transferred to eastern Germany. I found this place in Germany ... and even in Russia, bought a "stencil guidance" (Automatic based on the German trophy rocket A-4) .. That is what I got, you can see here - you will like it!

Load KML file the "Google Earth" and play in the nuclear attack on London.
Note - I use a real "rocket flight mission" and the actual place of launch..

    Link: Real R-5 ballistic trajectory
