the last time i went to the RSG3 all the lights were on although i think it must have been ready to shut down. very disappointing as i'd left raf watnall just before it closed. RSG3 was on my list of maintenance duties.

i have looked through most of the postings here but can find no mention of the civil defence bunker located in smedley's hydro at matlock. maybe it's still up and running although my visits for maintenance stopped some 40 years ago

does anyone know if it still exists?

just watched you u tube vids, nice one. Was you made to wear The white suits? Lost count now of how many rotors ive done, was good to see quite a lot of stuf still on site there in the vid, including the lansen tubes. Good work.

i didn't wear white overall when i went down the hole on chalfont drive. it was a working environment with lights and people. but that was many years ago. after 33 years in saudi arabia it's nice to look back and see other folk interested in our cold war heritage.

Of note, the Bunker at Watnall was not part of the ROTOR system.

No1. Don't piss the boss off.

No2. Under no circumstances ask about access to anywhere, it pisses the boss off. Say you want know cos you're a film maker, it seriously pisses the boss off. There's loads of info on the net etc, so before you ask folk to do the work for you (help), look. If you don't it will piss the boss off.

No3. Last but by no means least. Don't piss the boss off, You won't be able see his reply.
