Default Mounting blocks

In Welsh Row, Nantwich. It could be used by anyone who might need a bit of help in getting on or off a horse (age, size, infirmity) or women who rode sidesaddle. The black and white building it's outside has been an inn for hundreds of years and both the block and the inn are Grade 2 listed

I wonder if it's possible to work out how long the block has been in use through the amount of wearing away there's been, depending on what sort of stone it is

Did you put the "Wi Fi connection here" outside yourself for heightened historical effect, Berenice?

But of course. It makes such a telling contrast, don't you think? Like a clash between two different cultures.
