That's weird! The war memorial is still in the Market Place but it doesn't show in the 'now' photo
The church you can see in the 'then' pic was St Alkmund's, I think, later demolished

It's only a few weeks ago that a similar crime took place near Manchester; I bet the scum that defaced the Derby memorial got the idea from that one
