    Default Baggeridge park sensory garden

The sensory garden provides an additional stimulating experience to those not able to explore the park's attractions or see its beautiful landscape.

The aim of the garden is to provide accessible and stimulating sensations by concentrating on movement, sound, feel and smell, emphasising colour, texture, fragrance and light.

This exciting development was made possible due to a joint venture between South Staffordshire Council and South Staffordshire Housing Association.

We have a sensory garden at work, lovely it is. Till you realise the size of the rocks and stones that have were put in it. Being a psychiatric hospital, they probably weren't the best choice of materials. Many a rock has been picked up by an elderly gentleman and slung at the windows.

Sadly, I can't really enjoy sensory gardens because I use chlorine in my work and I've found it spoils my sense of smell. I need a couple of days off work before I can enjoy (some) smells.

At least you do get your smell back though, I worked with someone in the lab once who was one of those people completely insensitive to Hydrogen cyanide ! Only realised when I commented that a fume cupboard I was working in (using cyanide) was free of thwe smell of it, and he asked me what it smelt like

These places are so important - and not nearly enough of them around!
