Thread: Highley clock tower sculpture, Shropshire

I can't find any official history, although there is many references to it, but basically it was erected in 1999 and funded by a co operative including local businesses, council etc etc and is to commemorate the the villages mining history, workers etc

Created by David Howart in 1999, with life-sized miner in the cage & an abstract designed winding tower incorporating the clock. Thats the best I could come up with

Apparently there is a Discovery Trail leading from the Highley Station on the Severn Valley Railway into the village, consisting of sculptures, bronzes & ceramics, showing the history of the village from Domesday to the present.
