Found this place by chance yesterday

There's lots of mentions of them on Google, but as for actual history I cann't seem to see a great deal... I think they were something to do with bituminous coal mining and maybe later on they were laborotories as there is mentions of them doing that sort of thing, hmmm























stacks of paperwork lying around!







now used as a drugs den

That red-brick building looks interesting, older than the rest of the site

That building is one of the last few remains of the once vast coal-mining industry in South Derbyshire! If you look on Google-Earth at the site and set the time slider back they were still mining a few years back and sending coal out by rail. Much of the surrounding area has been land-filled and/or landscaped....also, I played a gig in the pub just across the road!
