Wow, I did not know that was there!
It was originally on Bethesda Street, inside a glass (plastic?) display case, but was moved inside the museum when the courts opposite the police station were built
I just love the spitfire - the sound of that engine is wonderful and it's such a graceful shape.
Here's a couple of pics I took during a display by this Mk lX Spitfire. It was one of those that took part in the Battle of Britain Memorial Service, but this was at a steam fair near Wymeswold.

Any chance of you finding the Spitfire under restoration in Burslem?.If of course its still there.
I can't find any mention on the internet of one in Burslem; however, there IS a Supermarine Aero manufacturing company there which makes Spitfire parts. Could that be it?
BBC - Stoke & Staffordshire - History - The Spitfire of the Potteries...
City's Spitfire needs £50k to restore or face becoming scrap.
STOKE-ON-TRENT'S Spitfire could ultimately rust away if £50,000 is not found to pay for its restoration
Volunteers warn the fighter plane could dissolve into a "pool of aluminium corrosion" if action is not taken now to save it for future generations.
The Mk XVI Spitfire, from an original design by Butt Lane-born inventor Reginald Mitchell, was given to the city in 1969.
And an appeal has now been launched to raise enough cash for its restoration and future maintenance.
You Can donate to the Spitfire appeal via The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery website at Stoke Museums - Welcome to our new Website and follow the links
