Dating from the early 1900's, Mill Meece Pumping Station was built & operated by the Staffordshire Potteries Water Board. The station contains 2 horizontal compound tandem rotary steam pumping engines (one manufactured by Messrs. Ashton Frost, the other by Messrs. Hathorn Davey) which last pumped water to the supply on 22nd December 1979.
Severn Trent still extract water from wells on the site, using submersible pumps, but lease the old station to the Mill Meece Pumping Station Preservation Trust.
The station is open most sundays, but is only in steam on certain dates. The last steaming event was on 11th & 12th September; here's a few pics from my visit
