    Default Derelict cottage, Earlswood

The titles a bit deceiving actually, as on closer inspection its of a wooden construction and more like the 'park homes' of today... apparently its been empty for at least twenty years, is condemned and I was told that it was a murder scene, a couple of kids were hanged by their single-parent father... I cann't confirm or deny this, but it does have a strange atmosphere... inside it was bare and stripped out and the only 'feature' was an old fireplace, also the floor was non-existent and besides which I didn't have a flash with me the pics taken at ISO 25600 weren't useable, but its no loss really, to be honest and far more attractive outside than in..

I'm surprised modelman says it dates from the 1950's. It's quite typical of the buildings produced by Boulton & Paul of Norwich and quite commonly erected all over the country in the 1920's. They're getting rare now.

Sorry to dissapoint everybody, no murders or hangings in this building.
The family that last lived there now have moved on.
The only person to die in the house was the husband, and he died of cancer at the age of 45.
He is buried at Tamworth in Arden church grounds.
Devoted husband to his wife and 2 girls and 1 boy.
His wife lived there with the children after his death for about 6 years.
The building was condemmed by the local council because it is made from asbestos.
Which is harmful to the familys health.
The family had to move out, and now live in Scotland.
How this story began is crazy, the building is just empty because nobody is allowed to live in it because of asbetos.
Most old derelict buildings with windows broken and not lived in for many years look haunted.
But this I am glad to say this one has no horror story about it.
Being a local resident of 40yrs, know the true story of this building.
Have been friend of the family and spent many a happy time in this cottage
Wondered who took the picture and started this story and why ?
The only hanging that has taken in the district was 40yrs ago was at Kiln stables in Earlswood.
The husband named Richard hung himself when his wife left him.
I am sure the local council records could confirm my infomation.
