Thread: Nos 42-46 Darlington st, Wolverhampton (Mardigrove Ltd?)

Its a real surprise to see its still standing everytime I drive past.

I get the impression that buildings on the whole are now being demolished more quickly after becoming empty - I presume its because there is now less likelyhood of a tenant or buyer being found and so the avoidance of liabilty for business rates is the owners priority.

Have come across a rare aerial photo of the then spanking-new Chapel Ash roundabout in 1970 with the old Bradburn and Wedge showroom still standing next to it (the latter single-storey building is where the vacant green-coloured Portman building society now is next door).

The photo clearly shows the Salop-street only access to the premises.

There's plenty of "opening-day" adverts for the then new 42-46 in the Express and Star newspapers of the day parked at the Archives, but which we know won't be open until February at the earliest.
