Am I right in thinking this could be an old Nissan hut?
Hidden in the undergrowth in Ashley churchyard is this long abandoned wheelbarrow

A lot of farmers bought war surplus buildings and this certainly looks like a nissen hut.
The barrow is more modern and looks like a "builders barrow" - I pulled an identical one out the canal last year and we use it round the yard.

They're back!
So embarrassing! Ashley's not in Shropshire as I'd assumed, it's in Staffordshire. Big slap on the wrist for me as I had to move all my Ashley photos to a different album.

So can anyone tell the difference between a Nissen Hut , a Romney Hut and a Quonset Hut ?
I have fond memories of Nissen Huts being used as School Changing Rooms and Scout Huts - but the massive cylindrical coal stoves used to heat them were a bit lethal.
Never heard of Romney huts. I'm probably being a bit thick but I don't understand the design of Nissen huts. Seems to me that there's only about half the hut that you could stand up in - the centre bit. There's an awful lot to the sides that would be too low for standing. So was that used for storage or beds or whatever the main use of a particular hut was?
