Default Turners Memorial, Buxton

Mods- if this is in the wrong place, please move!

Erected in 1879 (At a cost of £224) in memory of a local benefactor Samuel Turner. Restored in 1994.





"A native of Buxton, an active and useful townsman, a good neighbour and a kind friend"





"Treasurer to the Devonshire Hospital and Buxton Bath Charity and a member of the Buxton local board"





"1878 Erected by public subscription as a memorial of Samuel Turner who died October 4 1878 aged 73 years,]."





"Churchwarden of this parish during 43 years"

It could also have gone in the 'drinking fountains' thread but that lamp on top makes it a definite oddity!

I come across things which could go in more than one thread and it can be really hard to decide just where to post photos sometimes
