Thread: 1940's weekend - Severn Valley Railway

I know.......i know............it's not hardcore exploring but I could not resist going along

I got my first ride on a steam train today ( yay !! ) and a very sedentary experience it was to. I know nothing about steam trains but for those who do it was called the "Bradley Manor" and had a number 7802 on it...........I did not realise how easily you can wheel spin one of these things It was not cheap to get in but well worth a visit. They had some kind of book fair on.............before you start booing, I got a whole set of 1916 original copies of " the locomotive "......obviously they smell a bit as they are almost 100 years old but a pretty cool prezzie non the less......maybe I can learn something here.........

thanks dude...........and yes your right......I think the whole emulsion / grain thing would definitely add to the photo's

Yeah, I've got a couple of old SLR's that I use every now and again and I usually get my film off eBay (dirt cheap if it's out of date) as it's proper expensive in shops.

Severn Valley Railway

While not a railway anorak, I do love steam trains. I've travelled the Severn Valley, and the 40's bit looks interesting image wise. Typically, I've something else on during those dates. Perhaps next year.

I have done a couple of these in the past and had some mixed results photo wise-hard to keep modern folk out of pics to to being really busy but a really enjoyable weekend. The 40's themed weekend at Crich tramway museum is also well worth a visit. In both cases, re-enactors are quite happy to pose for you.

Crich also do Edwardian, 50's, morris minor and classic ford weekends!
