    A few memorials from visit to Northumberland:

    Bamburgh












    Alnwick
























    Spittal












    Denwick









    Craster Harbour

    Note the dome in the background is part of Spanish City, the NE equivalant of Blackpool in its day, thankfully some of its been saved & under restoration.

    Superb post, oildrum, many thanks. That Craster Memorial Harbour one is fascinating, I'd never heard of the Thiebetan Expedition but Britain invaded Tibet in 1903-04

    Not something I'd heard about either, but couldn't resist recording it, specially as a relatively "odd" spot.

    Quite a few memorials from inside the church in Bamburgh, but as you've already spotted its difficult to get a good pic of brass plaques. Unless some one knows how

    The best method I've found, but which doesn't always work, is to stand well back from the plaques. It gives you more room to search for a good angle to take a readable image. Sometimes I have to take photos at quite an angle though

    will try that one B.
    Even took numerous pics from different places hoping to get at least a useable one. Have to have another look to see if they will pass the test!
    Probably wise to actually write down the inscriptions, names, etc whilst there so at least you know what its meant to read
