These are in Bristol Royal Infirmary's chapel

A 'bimbashi' was a major in the Egyptian Army. He died during the Dongola Campaign against the Dervishes in Sudan

In addition to the Indian Medical Service Major Evans was also in the 18th Bengal Light Infantry

Although there's no indication of the circumstances in which the eight members of nursing staff died I've included it here as being a possible World War I memorial

Maybe the nurses were struck down with post-WW1 flu, as Bristol was hit quite badly by the illness around that time. I originate from the west country and had many relatives in that area, and can remember old families stories of how many kin were lost to the flu. Nice to see the memorials are well kept!

It appears the nurses died from around 1900 to 1910 and the stained glass window was put in the chapel to commemorate some of the nurses who have died at their posts. Edith Anne Pascoe died in 1907 aged 27 at Newton Abbot R.D. and Rossetta Hill died 1906 aged 43 in the Bristol Registration District.
