I wonder if the pub owners - Banks'? Marston's? - would let you go in to take photos if you asked nicely?

I'd actually thought of that myself.....at the time I took the pictures, which I think was less than a week after it shut (about 5 days I think) the landlord was still living there, which was a big missed opportunity!

It also gets a mention and a reprieve in this article from a local paper (whom I refuse to name as they never had the decency to even acknowledge, let alone reply to an email that I sent them!)

Slightly off topic, here's a thought - if the government put an extra tax on all offsales - supermarkets, off licences - would that help pubs? And it might cut down on teenagers buying cheap booze at off licences too?

Probably, but maybe the supermarkets would lower the prices even more so the increase was negligible, but some might say we pay enough taxes one way or another.....

Just to let everyone know since I pass this location every day almost, that the demolition is almost complete with every brick on the floor now.

Demolition feature on this location and for the Boat in the Tuesday 16 December edition of the Express and Star.
