Unhappy The Crown and Cushion, Tipton

Is this the Blackcountrys smallest pub??

I was told by someone at work that this was much bigger and this little bit was left because it was listed however, while taking these someone approached me and said that nobody knew if it was listed or not, even the council who demolished the rest leaving this...... I did also discover that there was at least one shop and a garage on the same ground..... we were debating how long its been in this present state and settled on between 3-5 years, we think...

these pictures just don't show how small the place is.....

Raytex, they did brakes and stuff and yes the home is next door, however Raytex has now been demolished, for quite some time now and the land is owned by the care home as is the land on which the remains of the pub sits....

The building still standing is the old coach house. It was quite a large pub that wrapped around the corner, built for Yardley's brewery, it had a datestone of 1901.

next door was an american car sales place too. As Darlo said it was a big place,it stood empty for a number of years and at some point had been torched before being demolished.

    "torched before being demolished."
Don't know about elsewhere but that seems to be the norm in the Black Country for empty pubs!

The building pictured was used for a few years as a workshop for a fabricator work colleague of mine making gates and fencing. Of course the pub itself was much bigger,

The American car business was on the right of the main pub and was once a petrol station in the early 80.s it was a Subaru dealers owned by a family friend. The opening night was helped by 3 wolves players,, Willie Carr, Kenny Hibbit and cant remember the other, Andy Gray failed to turn up. I beleive it was just after the League cup win in 81-82.

    Hope that sheds some light?

Here's an old Postcard from around 1905 (dunno if I've put this in the right place - hopefully mods can move if needed)
It shows the building that YP photographed from the other side of the island that is now there.
in this pic, the island is just a lamp and 4 bollards!
