    Unhappy Dunrobin Hotel, Longton, SoT

Named after Dunrobin castle in Scotland, the home of the Duke of Sutherland who owned the land on which this late 19th century hotel was built.

Closed in 2005 and bought with plans to convert into flats, however this "fell through" as the building wasn't structurally sound enough. So left empty it suffered the usual anti-social behaviour & fly tipping, and even a spell as a cannabis factory, before the inevitable happened. Yes demolished, with the land ready for more houses or whatever!

    As it was

Apparently, there was a chap who, for a small fee, would fill in benefit forms for people, and they would always get it!!!

I wonder if he can claim for loss of earnings due to having his place of business removed!!!

The old Labour Exchange/ Dole office was just over the road on Locketts Lane so he would have had plenty of "customers" Thing its now a vets or offices, but still standing unlike the Dunrobin!
