A great walk along the line, big thanks to the guy who let me have a look-see inside the signnal box.

Is it all static at present or have they got anything up and running?
That signal box looks very smart![]()
its open on sundays for passengers (trust me to pick a sunday when the main engine was down!). all that was running was a diesel shunter and brake wagon with a few folks on board.
it gave the volunteers in the signal box an opportunity to clear some of the bushes that had overgrown the signs. so in a way i was lucky there, they would have been too busy too give me a look inside otherwise.
i must say, the last time i had a look around here it was in a much worse state (a few years ago admittedly). the line, station and signal boxes are in great shape.
well worth a visit, especially for the kiddies when they bring in a thomas the tank loco for a few weeks.

I think it's amazing just how many preserved railways there are in the UK; I think the only only two I've ever actually travelled on are the Great Central Railway and the Keighley Worth Valley Railway (I enjoyed the KWVR best)
mostly ran by keen, unpaid steam enthusiasts who i take my hat off to. all of the blokes that mustered to the signal box for a brew were volunteers. their train wasnt running so they kept busy by clearing the line.
i havent been to the lines that you mention, i will bear them in mind for the future when im in those parts. the romney-hythe and dymchurch line is worth a visit, im not sure if its still part of the poppy line (or ever was) from tunbridge wells west station (you go by dungeness nuclear power station on it) across the marshes, narrow gauge too!
Always fancied a trip on the Romney-Hythe & Dymchurch railway, specially to have wander around Dungeness. Passed close by a few years ago but was on way to Dover (was the long way round I know but had been to Battle & Hastings) so no time
There's a few steam railways around North Staffs- Foxfield (an old colliery branch line) & the Churnet valley line between Cheddleton & Froghall- both well worth a visit![]()
