    At Heath Hayes Park these impressive gates & gate piers with plaques commemorating the fallen of both World Wars.

    Hello, I live not far from the heath Hayes gates (my Great Grandfather sadly died in the great war and is named in plaque - James Rowley) and agree they are a beautiful lasting memorial. The small park just behind the gates also has trees that were planted also as a memorial to the fallen. Sadly one or two have been damaged and broken by youths but the gates have remained damage free.

    It makes them more poignant that the Five Ways public house opposite and numerous houses and buildings facing and very near the war memorial gates are exactly the same as they were when those brave soldiers enlisted. I know a few actually lived a stones throw away from the gates...sorry for the rambling
