At the time of WWI Wollaton was still a village but developed to become a suburb during the 1920s and 30s following the sale of the Wollaton estate in 1925 to Nottingham Corporation. The consequent rapid population growth in Wollaton is reflected in the numbers of names on the two World War memorials.
At St Leonard's Church
The vestry was an unusual shape, multi-sided, I believe, and proved impractical so was demolished only a few years after being built. The memorial went with it.
